Joint Irish Prison Service & Probation Service Strategic Plan 2015-2017

The Irish Prison Service and the Irish Probation Service have developed a joint strategic plan for the period 2015 to 2017. The strategic plan contains 8 Strategic Actions, including a Strategic Action to ‘Promote Social Inclusion’ (Strategic Action No 6). The Strategic Outcomes under this area are:
Better responses to the needs of women prisoners.
Response to the particular needs of Travellers in Prison
SSGT particularly welcomes the reference to the ‘Travellers in Prison Initiative’ under the Actions for this Strategic Area:
b) We will establish a ‘Travellers in Prison Initiative’, in partnership with the St. Stephens Green Trust, in responding to the particular needs of Travellers in prison.
The Irish Prison Service and the Probation Service will have responsibility for overseeing this action.
